AIM
To investigate what happens when an egg is soaked in different household liquids.
HYPOTHESIS
The most acidic liquids will change the egg the most.
MATERIALS
-7 plastic cups
-7 eggs
-vinegar
-milk
-orange juice
-soy sauce
-dish soap
-beer (Yebisu beer, if that matters)
-no-calorie Coca-Cola
METHOD
1. Gather your ingredients.
2. Put one egg into each cup. If it's easier, use different colored cups so you know what cup
each liquid is in.
3. Pour one liquid into each cup.
4. Leave the cups in a safe place for a period of time. I used about 12 hours. Leaving them overnight
works well.
5. Come back after the time is up and see what happened.
6. Try dropping the egg in a sink (don't drop it down the drain). If it is like the egg in the vinegar it
should bounce, and the shell should be gone and the egg should be more round.
7. Record your results. (Mine are on the page titled results.)
